ferry on Saturday night. The boat developed a problem with it's
starter compressor so we ended up sleeping at the dock ok the sidewalk
after they tried to fix it until 2:30am. When we finally got under
way it was 11:30am Sunday and the trip took about 9 hours... We spent
the rferry trip chattimg with some folks from Tucson and drinking
beer. We basically drank 90 beers from the time we hit Guayamas,
waiting for the ferry, riding the ferry, until dinner last night in
Santa Rosalia. The just made today all the much more interesting!
We started today with a 16 mile stretch on Highway 1 and then turned
onto a dirt road that headed into the mountains of central Baja. As I
sit here we just finished riding 45 miles in about 7.5 hours with
3,600 feet of climbing. Not all that easy for me but the Phogsley
rocked on the primarive dirt road! The big tires made the primarive
dirt and rocky road so much more manageable! Our camp tonight is at
the top of a climb so steep that we had to walk our bike at least a
half a mile. I almost fell a mber of times beacuse it was to steep to
keep my footing and push my heavy bike!! Sleeping will come very easy
tonight.
There is some good joking around and sarcastic humor happening as
well. Pete now has a couple of new nicknames: Poco Dulce, and El
Moustacio. And we keep taking turns calling each other E.K.
Tomorrow we will rode to Scorpion Bay and stay the night by the
water. I hope to have some good photos to upload from there.
The photo below is from the front of the Hotel Blanco y Negro where we
stayed last night.
