San Diego Bike Show Prep

It's getting down to crunch time and we are busy getting frames ready
for powdercoat on Monday, building a cool front "12 pack" cargo rack,
and styling out our sign. It's a pretty exciting and nerve racking
time for us!

Here is a pic of the rack in progress...

In The Jig:

Two frames currently in production: 26" SS MTB with curved seat stays (bottom) and a 26" 'Station Wagon' (top).  We'll be taking the lower bike to the San Diego Custom Bike show next week as well.  ~jb

Back in Flag

Well it was a sweet trip!  We arrived back in Flag around 9pm Monday completely unscathed!  Though a bit tired.  I'll have photos up soon and maybe even a recap of the whole trip from Scott Miller so stay tuned.  In the meantime here are a couple of pics... ~jb

Bahia concepcion

We are some tired hombres now on day 4. We finished the dirt portion
of the tour today at just about 210 miles. And just got done eating
hamburguesas, drinking lots of beer, and making camp in a sandy spot
across from the restaurant. Where else but Mexico can you do that?

The roads here are amazingly awful to ride a bike on. Between
washboard, sand, baby heads, and brutally steep pitches (many with
concrete pavement to help trucks get up them) we are all pretty much
crushed. But tomorrow we play in the bay and relax drinking Ballena's
and making jokes about how sore our butts are!

On Saturday we will start makng our way North to Mulege and then catch
a bus back to Santa Rosalia and the ferry back to Guayamas on Sunday.

We finally started riding

We made it to Santa Rosalia last night after a 15 hour delay at the
ferry on Saturday night. The boat developed a problem with it's
starter compressor so we ended up sleeping at the dock ok the sidewalk
after they tried to fix it until 2:30am. When we finally got under
way it was 11:30am Sunday and the trip took about 9 hours... We spent
the rferry trip chattimg with some folks from Tucson and drinking
beer. We basically drank 90 beers from the time we hit Guayamas,
waiting for the ferry, riding the ferry, until dinner last night in
Santa Rosalia. The just made today all the much more interesting!

We started today with a 16 mile stretch on Highway 1 and then turned
onto a dirt road that headed into the mountains of central Baja. As I
sit here we just finished riding 45 miles in about 7.5 hours with
3,600 feet of climbing. Not all that easy for me but the Phogsley
rocked on the primarive dirt road! The big tires made the primarive
dirt and rocky road so much more manageable! Our camp tonight is at
the top of a climb so steep that we had to walk our bike at least a
half a mile. I almost fell a mber of times beacuse it was to steep to
keep my footing and push my heavy bike!! Sleeping will come very easy
tonight.

There is some good joking around and sarcastic humor happening as
well. Pete now has a couple of new nicknames: Poco Dulce, and El
Moustacio. And we keep taking turns calling each other E.K.

Tomorrow we will rode to Scorpion Bay and stay the night by the
water. I hope to have some good photos to upload from there.

The photo below is from the front of the Hotel Blanco y Negro where we
stayed last night.

Guaymas

Myself, Pete Miers, and Scott Miller left Tucson this morning for
Mexico. We are in Guaymas now waiting to take the ferry to Santa
Rosalia in Baja. It's gonna be a LoNG 10 hour ride tonight and we will
dock in the morning just after sunrise.

Here is a pic of Pete with his new moustache...
